New here? Start with this. What this journal is, where to begin, and a little of my story.

Hi. I’m glad you’re here.
If you just found this space, I want to orient you before you go wandering — because this isn’t a blog in the usual sense, and I’d rather tell you what it is than have you guess.
What this space is
This is the journal of Mocha Moizelle — a place where I write about decolonizing the divine: the practice of separating the sacred from the systems that tried to control it, and returning to the wholeness that was always yours. It’s part teaching, part testimony, part standing invitation to come home to yourself.
I don’t write here to perform expertise. I write from inside the work — the same return I’m asking you to consider, I’m walking it too. So you’ll find essays that teach, and you’ll find pieces that are just me telling the truth about my own road. Both matter. Neither is finished.
This is not a blog you read. It’s a door you walk through, one piece at a time.
A little of my story
I was formed in Mississippi, where God was loud, certain, and everywhere — and where I loved that God even as I slowly understood I’d inherited a version of the sacred built for my obedience, not my wholeness.
I found the rest of the story almost six years later, on the island of Jamaica. Something about that distance — from the land, the language, the life I’d been handed — cracked something open. I met a divine that didn’t require my shrinking. I remembered a self that had been waiting quietly the whole time. That return became my life’s work: the book Decolonizing the Divine, this journal, and everything I build now.
I say all this not because my story is the point, but because it’s the proof. If it happened for me, the same homecoming is available to you — whatever your starting point, whatever your history with the sacred.
Where to begin
If you only read one more thing today, start with the piece that anchors everything else here: What It Means to Decolonize the Divine — it’s the clearest map of what this work actually is.
From there, follow whichever pull calls you loudest:
- Decolonizing the Divine — the core teaching. Reclaiming the sacred, and what colonization replaced it with.
- The Return — on wholeness. Healing not as repair, but as remembrance.
- Living Free — on sovereignty. The body, boundaries, rest, and belonging to yourself.
- Testimonies — my own story, told in pieces, for when you want the road rather than the map.
There’s no correct order. Read what your body wants right now.
While you’re here
A few doors, if you want to go deeper than the page:
- Decolonizing the Divine, the book — the fullest version of this teaching.
- The Ascension App — a free space for the daily practice, your pathway to sovereignty.
- The community — free dispatches, straight to your inbox, as this all takes shape.
You don’t have to do anything with any of this today. You don’t have to be ready. You just have to be willing to keep listening.
Welcome home. I’m glad you came.
